Kazuma Sonoda, Jr.
Associate Attorney
Kazuma Sonoda, Jr., was born in Miami, Florida. As his father is Japanese and his mother is Colombian, Kazuma was raised a citizen of the world, speaking fluent Spanish and English. He attended Duke University where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Public Policy Studies and Spanish in 1997. While attaining the Dean’s List for academic excellence all four years, Kazuma further distinguished himself by active participation in student government as Campus Council Vice Chair. He was also a member of the Duke Bench & Bar Society, Treasurer for the Chi Psi Fraternity, and President of the Duke Language Theme House.
Kazuma attended Emory University Law School where he was elected Representative-At-Large to the student government. He was an active member of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, Hispanic Law Student Association, the Emory Public Interest Committee and its mentoring program. He received his Juris Doctor Degree and was admitted to the Bar in 2000. Kazuma joins Federal & Hasson with seven years of litigation experience and community involvement, including his service as past president of the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association and current member of the Boards of Directors for the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association and Georgia Legal Services, and as the former Deputy Director of the Metro Conflict Defender Division of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council.
