Keith Hasson

Partner

Keith S. Hasson is a native Atlantan, born on May 12, 1972.  He attended Pace Academy High School and received both his undergraduate degree, in 1994, and his Juris Doctor Law degree, in 1997, from Duke University in Durham, NC.  Keith is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in  both North Carolina and Georgia.

Keith was first employed as an associate litigation attorney with the firm of Faison & Gillespie in Durham, NC, where he handled the defense of medical malpractice claims on behalf of Duke University Hospital, and doctors practicing there, as well as other personal injury and wrongful death claims throughout the state on behalf of injured parties and their families.  He also was engaged in a number of contract disputes and government liability claims.

Returning to Atlanta in 1999, Keith entered public service prosecuting cases as an Assistant Solicitor in Cobb County State Court.  He was subsequently recognized for his excellent trial work and hired as an Assistant District Attorney by Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard in 2001.  For four years, Keith distinguished himself as a highly successful prosecutor of criminal cases by presenting over thirty cases to juries, many of them murder and armed robbery cases.  In 2003, he was awarded the District Attorney’s Trial Lawyer of the Year Award.

Keith joined Federal & Hasson as an Associate Trial Attorney in 2004, undertaking the representation of businesses and entrepreneurs in corporate, contract, and commercial disputes, and representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries, or death, resulting from the negligent or reckless acts of third parties.  He also acts as criminal defense counsel for Clients who are charged with any local, state or federal offenses.

Keith has served as a Visiting Professor in the Public Policy Department at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he, along with other practicing attorneys, taught courses on  introductory legal matters to undergraduates.

Keith serves on the Board of Directors of a $100 million wholesale hardware distributor based in Knoxville, TN, and he is a Director on the Board of the International Women’s House in Atlanta, which is the only non-profit shelter dedicated to serving foreign-born victims of domestic violence.  Keith also serves as the Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee for the International Women’s House.

In statewide polls of lawyers and judges, Keith has been recognized by his peers as one of the best and brightest lawyers in Georgia.  In 2005 and again in 2006, he was named as a “Rising Star” in the legal profession by Atlanta Magazine and the editors of the Super Lawyers’ edition of Law and Politics, which is a designation limited to the top 2.5% of all lawyers under the age of 40 in the State.

Keith is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association and is active in the Small Firm Practice section, and the Litigation section.  He also belongs to the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Atlanta Lawyers Club.

Keith is the son of James K. Hasson, a tax litigation attorney and partner at the prestigious law firm of Sutherland Asbill and Brennan, and Jayne Hasson.  Keith and his wife, the former Elizabeth Smith, are members of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.
